My body has finally allowed itself to get 'the cold'. My throat feels like someone has taken industrial-grade sandpaper to it and my ears are stopped up.
I definitely am not thinking well enough to work on class materials, which will need to be in place this coming Thursday, but I have to do it anyway. Ugh.
We are going to visit some friends who are working a writers con at a local hotel today. They are going to get us tickets to get in free and after the dealer's room closes, we are going out to eat at one of the many places available in our little town. These friends are from our ren faire days and are really excellent jewelers. One works with silver and beads and one works with bead weaving and construction. Both sew, too. They are adding abjd jewelry items to their stock for future cons.
I really want to see them tonight so I am having to rest up for it, plus doctor myself with the meds I know work. It is amazing how aspirin can help kill most of the throat pain.

On 2/6/07 Lionsgate will release "The Last Unicorn: 25th Anniversary Edition" ù a widescreen digitally remastered DVD version of the animated classic, including additional features and material ù with special Conlan Press Distribution on behalf of author and screenwriter Peter S. Beagle.
"The Last Unicorn: 25th Anniversary Edition" DVD features an all-star cast of voice talent, and songs performed by the band America. Starring Christopher Lee, Mia Farrow, and Academy Award« nominees Alan Arkin, Angela Lansbury, and Jeff Bridges, the movie tells the powerful tale of a unicorn who sets out on a quest to find her lost brothers and sisters.
The film's character design and animation were done by the Japanese artists who went on to become the core of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli (My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away).
With screenplay by Hugo Award-winning author Peter S. Beagle (based on his own world-famous fantasy novel), this long-awaited special edition DVD makes the widescreen version of The Last Unicorn available for the first time in the United States, and brings the film to life in its highest quality ever, with digitally remastered video and 5.1 audio. The Last Unicorn has been a worldwide success in its theatrical film, cable, VHS, and DVD versions. But to date, author and screenwriter Peter S. Beagle has never been paid anything from the millions of dollars the film has earned.

So, I am being forced to work on the special topics class after all. My students have actually registered for the course, thinking I can teach them something... Evil students. And you KNOW who you are! *laughs*
It's a buttload of work, let me tell you. I keep trying to figure out ways to make it easier to get some of the stuff ready, too.

The apt complex has scheduled a cyclical bug spray regiment for all the buildings. We get nuked on Monday. Originally I was concerned about having a reaction to the stink if they bombed but the office lady told me the pest guys will be using wands, so that will help a lot. Still, I am concerned about walking into the place tomorrow night and getting sick. But we decided to get nuked with everyone else (there was an option to not have it done) because if we don't, all the critters will come to our place to live.
Maybe this will help get the ants living in the walls.
Luckily, they gave us a week's warning for this, so we have been running around, trying to get some parts cleaned up/straightened and other parts covered before the stink invasion tomorrow. And I have stashed some stuff in the bedroom so it looks like a wreck, but it's the only room in the place without any plumbing close-by that will be nuked so it is the safest place to put things, like the dolls.
